• Taiwanese naval vessel collides with Chinese fishing boat, resulting in 21 deaths On August 13, 1990, the Taiwanese naval vessel ROCS Wen Shan PF-834 collided with the Chinese fishing boat Min Ping Yu No. 5202, leading to the sinking of the boat and the drowning of 21 of the 50 Chinese nationals on board. The incident occurred approximately 13 nautical miles north of Keelung, Taiwan, during a repatriation operation of mainland Chinese illegal immigrants. Survivors accused the Taiwanese Navy of delaying the rescue operation, which the Navy captain denied.
